HTWW - Educational Philosophy
How The Weatherworks had this educational philsophy long before Al Gore stated this in presidental candidate interviews at KidsPost
on October 26th, 2000.
Q: Mr. Gore, what was the best part of being
a kid for you?
A: "Discovering new things. When you're
a kid, every day you learn something new - whether it's how
to hit a curveball and how to paint, to writing cursive and
memorizing your multiplication tables. Even now as an adult,
I try to keep my mind open to new ideas, and always to listen
to the people I meet because you never know what you can learn."
We believe that if anyone (ages pre-kindergarten through adult) has this outlook , learning will truly become a cornerstone of their lives
We also strongly believe that OWNERSHIP is a key aspect of education. Students need to own their writing, own their math operations and own their ideas. For this reason and others, we REFUSE to teach to a test. Instead, we want students to understand the underlying fundamentals of whatever they are learning and know WHY they are doing something, not just the HOW.
