Employment/Internship Opportunities

Math Tutors

Mathworks is always on the lookout for good math tutors. You don’t have to be a certified teacher, just someone who knows their content area, how to teach and how to connect with kids. We need teachers from grade 1 through college (including SAT/ACT Prep) in math, language arts, science, history, study skills, test-taking skills and more. Our tutors work part-time as independent contractors, but we take better care of our tutors than the larger tutoring companies. We also try hard to be flexible to accommodate our clients needs, including juggling tutoring schedules when something comes up. We ask that our tutors strongly encourage tutees to work hard, do all their homework and come armed with questions and requests for help. Please check out our existing tutoring staff (LINK NEEDED) and then drop us an e-mail or call for more information. Note that we do run background checks on all applicants who are not currently working in the Collier County Florida School System.

Weather Internships Available

How The Weatherworks is always looking to help out interested high school and college students with internship opportunities. Under these, interns can work on weather research projects, help design or redesign web pages, collect and tabulate weather data or participate in other projects that support student growth and How The Weatherworks needs. We will be working with the American Meteorological Society’s Board on Private Sector Meteorology as they roll out their new college mentorship program during Fall 2009. Look for more information and opportunities shortly.

Internship Graduates

In past years, we have had students working on a hurricane climatology project, an evaluation of Punxsutawney Phil’s forecasting prowess (or lack thereof) and development of an historical significant weather events database. Other interns have helped revamp our web site taking it from a rather loosely organized and poorly designed page to one that looks professionally done. We’ll be providing a listing of our “graduates” at a later date and hopefully providing links to their web sites.
