HOW THE WEATHERWORKS' Partners Page

Welcome to our Partners and Affiliates Links page.

This page provides links to the many organizations that How the Weatherworks collaborates with on various projects. These are great places to find educational and scientific information. Please visit these sites often.

It also showcases companies (affiliates) with whom we do business. We feel that if we are happy with the products or services they offer, that we should share our recommendations.

If you find that a site doesn't work properly or that a link has become outdated, please let us know that as well. We'll update it promptly.

Until then, happy "surfing"!

123Greetings

Send still or animated greeting cards for any weather occasion for free at 123Greetings. Just search for a theme and then share greetings with friends, family and others. I'm partial to Groundhog Day greetings.

Audubon Naturalist Society

Like its national name-sake, ANS provides lots of solid educational and environmental information, with an emphasis on the local Washington, DC Metro area. Look for information about "Greenlabs" and other innovative programs in which How the Weatherworks participates.

Blue Hill Observatory

The Blue Hill Observatory is home of the Oldest Continuous Weather Data Records in North America. It is also a growing resource for weather education programs in the Greater Boston area.

How The Weatherworks has participated in several workshops for teachers and programs for young girls (ages 9 - 14) in the WINS (Women in Natural Sciences program).

Chloe Cards (Pet Driver's Licenses)

Chloe Cards - Pet Driver's License project is a great way to ensure the safety of your pet while offering a great conversation starter. A plastic laminated dog/cat ID tag is paired with a matching card for an owner to keep. If you are separated (e.g., in an emergency) from your pet, matching the two licenses ensures that no one can claim your pet. Our dog, Pepper, wears his license proudly!

Lingo

Lingo offers great telephone service at a fraction of the cost of other providers. We especially like the fact that we can to Europe for free as part of the basic plan. We intend to add Lingo service to the vacation cottages we rent in the Outer Banks of North Carolina this year. In this way, guests will be able to call almost anywhere at no cost.

Rockville Consortium for Science

The Rockville Consortium for Science (RCS) has worked hard for 15 years to foster a love for science among the general population of the Rockville City and Montgomery County, Maryland areas. In addition to holding an annual Science Day, RCS is coordinating with Rockville City officials to establish a science center.

SKYWARN

SKYWARN is a national program that fosters a strong severe weather spotter presence. It includes Amateur Radio operators, emergency managers, meteorologists and others in the community who offer their services on a volunteer basis in order provide earlier detection of hazardous weather. H. Michael Mogil is now a certified spotter for Collier County, FL.

TOWN COURIER Newspapers (Maryland)

My monthly HOUSE DOCTOR column runs in the TOWN COURIER Newspapers (of Montgomery County, MD). You'll find the last six editions online here. Check out my features. They are usually fun, informative and relevant.
