Maps of the nation and each state show snowfall for the most recent one-, two-, three- and seven-day periods, as well as current snow depth. There are also maps showing snowfall for the month to date and the season to date.

Buffalo and other places on the downwind shores of the Great Lakes often get "dumped" with heavy, wind-blown "lake effect" snows. "Lake effect" maven Tom Niziol and the forecasters at the NWS' Buffalo Forecast Office have created this site to explain and chronicle these events.
