Biden’s take on the Oil/Gas Crisis
OPINION NEWS POLITICS ECONOMICS
Yesterday (March 31, 2022), President Biden tried to explain away the oil/gas crisis that he created. Why didn’t he wait until April 1, 2022 – April Fool’s Day, instead? It would have been a more fitting venue. His reasoning behind the situation and proposed solutions simply won’t work.
President Biden’s immediate actions in the first days of his administration precipitated the current crisis. This included the killing of the Keystone-XL Pipeline here in the U.S., while approving the opening of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in Europe. The latter made Europe even more dependent upon Russian oil and helped set the stage for the invasion of Ukraine.
Yet, Biden blames big oil for making excess money and he’s going to see that they deliver what he wants. This includes forcing the oil companies to use drilling sites (some of which may not be productive) and he’s threatened to levy fines/taxes on the oil companies, if they don’t comply! Further, he’s going to release strategic oil reserves at a slower pace than he already has (and those releases have done little to stem the rise in oil prices). Finally, he continued his push for costly “green energy” with the pledge of good jobs, energy independence, and more.
His speech sounded more like a surgeon who had botched a surgery and was describing how he was applying a gauge bandage to stem the internal bleeding.
President Biden’s pledge to do “everything” in his power to reduce the price of gas and oil and make America energy independent is even more hollow. Alas, “everything” only includes what he defines as “everything.”
Maybe, just maybe, some Republicans and some Democrats that still know how to think and read, should review Ayn Rand’s novel – “Atlas Shrugged.” The plotline in “Atlas Shrugged” and what is happening before our eyes are far too similar to disregard.
NOTE: I have showcased an upside-down American Flag here per the situation portrayed in the TV series House of Cards. According to the Collins Flags website and links therein, the U. S. flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
